The Shepards Bush project entailed the careful dismantling of the chimney structure, followed by the meticulous replacement of bricks, and ultimately, the rebuilding of the chimney using traditional lime mortar combined with durable clay pots. Our team undertook the extensive process of removing the existing slates, roofing battens, felt, and any outdated skylights to ensure a fresh start. After thorough preparation, we proceeded to install a high-quality breathable felt membrane and new slating battens, followed by Cupa Spanish slates and elegant terracotta ridge tiles to enhance the overall aesthetics. For the verges, we utilized robust cement fibre boards, while lead step flashing were applied along the party walls and chimney to provide optimal waterproof protection. We also completed all necessary timber work, along with the installation of new Velux skylights that are designed to bring in natural light. In addition, six lead dormas were constructed, and repointing work was diligently undertaken to meticulously finish the project. To further ensure peace of mind for the client, a comprehensive 20-year guarantee was issued, demonstrating our commitment to securing the property’s integrity even during the harsh winter months ahead.
